Watch or Warning?

4/6/2022 (Permalink)

Many times during severe spring weather we are given weather updates containing watches and warnings.  Have you ever considered the difference?  This could apply to a severe thunderstorm, flooding, high winds or tornadoes.

A "Watch" is often given when conditions are favorable for the severe weather event in or near the watch area. When a watch is announced, stay alert and be ready to take action.

A "Warning" means a severe weather event is imminent or already occurring in the warned area.  Take action based on the emergency at hand.

Stay tuned to local weather services or have a weather radio in place to make sure you are up to date on latest conditions.

Always take both a watch and a warning seriously!

If you or your family are affected by severe weather, we are "Here to Help".  We are available 24 hours a day.
